Generic Tramadol

Pharmaceutical reports showed that almost half of all prescriptions issued by doctors today are filled with generic medicines, and tramadol is one of them.

Although tramadol’s effect has similarities to that of morphine, a substance with high risk of abuse by patients, tramadol is classified as a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) and thus, can be marketed in a generic package. Also, unlike other NSAID-classified drugs, generic tramadol does not come with an increased risk of internal hemorrhage or stomach ulceration as medical researches have proven.

Generic tramadol often comes in immediate-release 50 milligram tablet forms and extended-release 100 mg, 200 mg and 300 mg tablet forms. The extended-release prescriptions are often given to patients with severe and chronic pain that needs regular and continuous administration for an extended period until such time that some form of relief is markedly observed.

These high dosages should be swallowed whole, and not pulverized, chewed or crushed. For generic immediate release tablets that come in 50 up to 100 milligrams, dosage is administered every four to six hours.

Generic tramadol are slightly lower in price than prescription tramadol and may be purchased still with a prescription by a licensed physician in drugstores or prescription filler stations. It can also be purchased online, which are often prescription-free, and buyers can save as much as 80% compared to branded, tramadol bought through over-the-counter method.
